Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist

The three main non-Orthodox movements in American Jewish life, roughly ordered by how binding they treat halacha. Reform treats Jewish law as a guide informed by individual conscience and modern ethics. Conservative treats it as binding but open to change through rabbinic process. Reconstructionist treats Judaism primarily as an evolving culture and civilization rather than a legal system.
